Hopefully I can explain this so it makes sense.
I had two arrays.
Connector 0/Array 1 (OS) = 4x 150 GB disks - Raid 5
Connector 1/Array 2 (data) = 3x 1 TB disks + 1x 1 TB Global hot "warm" spare - Raid 5
1 disk on Connector 0 failed and another was showing as imminent failure. I ordered 2 new disks. Before I got the disks, I think the imminent failure failed and pulled in the hot spare. The arrays now look like this:
Array 1 = 2x 150 GB disks + 1x 300 GB disk + 1x 1 TB disk
Array 2 = 3x 1 TB disks
I didn't know that Connector 0 would pull in the hot spare from Connector 1, but I guess it's a good thing it did.
My question is, how can I fix Array 1 to get the 1 TB disk out of it as it is a huge waste of space. The 300 GB disk is a 50% waste of space, but I knew that would happen. I currently have a spare slot on Connector 0 which contains the disk which was reporting imminent failure and is not currently used in any array, but switched to foreign after it snatched up the 1 TB disk, and a spare 300 GB disk.
The disks on Connector 0 were all from 2006. The disks on Connector 1 are all from 2010.
