Today I had a customer's server crash. It is a Dell Poweredge T110 with a PERC s300 controller in a RAID 5 configuration. It is a windows server 2003. I believe they are set up as a workgroup. It had an error saying that it had a degraded virtual disk. I have been able to ctl - R into the PERC s300 Virtual Disk Management Utility. and under physical disks looks like one of the drives crapped out.- 1-01, 250GB , Offline... I have removed the HD. Replaced it with another HD of same make/model/size. I went back into the VDM Utility and Deleted the Virtual Disk associated with the new HD install, set it up as a global hot spare, then later initialized it. The HD now says 1-01, 250GB, Ready under physical Disks. I am not sure if i need to set it to global spare again or if I did the correct process or not. I have tried rebooting again, but...
