In light of all the issues of the 390's recently........
My brand new 990 bit it...(bought it in December)
My install was just getting slower and slower to point of un-bearable. I had the HD activity desktop widget running and I was noticing the drives getting lots of use on just idle.
Reboot would take 15minutes sometimes then after logging in, it took another 30 just even get things done.
So I was thinking HD issues had to be it....
I decided to put them in Raid0 to see if it helped with performance (yes I know the risk).
created the stripe last night, started the install and left for the day.
came in this morning and all I had was a blinking cursor.
Ran the Dell diags. Quick test went fine....
Odd...................
Called Dell, had me stop the through test since it was going to take ages with the 16GB of RAM.
Ran the HD test individually after breaking the stripe and the drives were fine.
I could only boot from my USB CD drive and not the internal one in my system..... ODD
I was able to use the Internal DVD drive last night for the install....
The Dell Drivers CD (to run the extend more testing) would fail to boot from the menu on the CD (invalid command I see flash real quick) even using the USB drive.
Reset BIOS to default, now I see the internal DVD drive to boot from. No Dice. Can't boot from it. Using the drivers CD and the Dell Win7 OS CD.
Dell is sending me a new Mobo, he thinks the drive controller is bad.
(...and Yes, my BIOS was current with A10)
Where is the Quality Control?
Glad I still hoarded my old system, I can still Limp by at least.
