I am looking at purchasing a new server and am examining all of my options. In the past, we've used Supermicro which actually worked pretty well for the most part, but lately I have been looking at Dell so as to also get nice warranty support as I see so many people on this forum recommend for infrastructure equipment.
Now, I've been messing around with the online configuration tool on the Dell website looking at basic pricing and I am wondering if any one buys their servers without hard drives from Dell and gets them from another vendor?
I am wondering if that contradicts paying for a 4-hour support warranty? Although, having a spare hard drive around and swapping it out if one fails is a lot easier for me than say replacing a faulty motherboard.
Any thoughts on the matter?
