Got a Dell PowerEdge T610 tower server
RAID 10
4 x 450GB SAS 15K rpm drives (hot swap drives)
Dell Perc 6/I SAS RAID Controller 2x4 Connectors Internal PCIe 256M Cache Card
One of the drive in the above RAID 10 has gone bad and we ordered a new one. Expecting it to receive tomorrow early morning.
1) Since these are hot-swap drives, when the server is running can we just swap the bad drive with the new one without shutting down the server ?
2) Do we need to shutdown the server and press ctrl + r during the post bios screen and get into RAID controller screen and make some changes before plugging the new hard drive ?
Thanks.
