In the last few days I've been looking at buying an All-In-One computer for a small business. The idea of having little or no cable mess is intriguing. It would make the machine slightly more portable than a regular desktop. Also, some of the AIO's now come with Multi-Touch Screens which might be useful when Windows 8 arrives.
We'd like something reliable, with a good 3 year warranty, and preferably with on-site repair service and US based technical support.
We normally buy Dell Business computers. I've been looking at Dell's offerings. The AIO 2320 is of particular interest but I think it's a consumer machine. They make a business version of it called the Optiplex 9010. So far, the reviews on Dell's AIO's are pretty dismal. It appears that they have some major hardware issues (overheating?) that haven't been resolved. According to various reports, they often need motherboards and/or hard drives replaced. I also verified this with out local Dell Warranty on-site technician who was out to work on a T3500 for us. He says that he would never get a Dell AIO computer (at this point anyway) because he frequently replaces motherboards on them, sometimes within 30 days after purchase. He also believes that other MFG's have the same problem although studying the reviews indicates that Lenovo and HP might be doing a little better than Dell.
I've concluded we would probably be happy with an HP TouchSmart Elite 7320 but I'm unfamiliar with Lenovo or HP's warranty and support. HP does say they have a 3 year warranty but is their support team based in the US? Do you have to ship things back to HP for repair?
I guess my real question here is, are any of you using All-In-One computers successfully as business workstations? If yes, do you have any recommendations as far as brand/make/model or maybe any recommendations of what to stay away from?
