Poweredge 840 won't boot with addition of new hard drive

I have a Dell Poweredge 840 that's mainly running as a file server. It has 2x's 2TB SATA drives in a software RAID 0 via Server 2008, and a smaller ~250GB drive for the OS and applications. Today I tried to add another 2TB hard drive that would not be a part of a RAID.

It played out as follows:

1) Booted up the system, realized from Windows that the SATA port was turned off via the BIOS

2) Restarted and enabled the port, which recognized it as a hard drive with the correct capacity (2000GB)

3) Restarted and was greeted by a blank screen.

4) Turned off the SATA port again, and the system booted as before.

All drives are plugged into the motherboard SATA controller, and the machine is pretty much the factory hardware besides increased RAM to 6GB. I don't see any other settings for the onboard SATA in the BIOS.

Any help would be appreciated!
