I have an old PowerEdge 2550 with the PERC 3/Di RAID controller. I'd like to turn this server into a NAS for my department to use to dump random stuff (like user backups when re-imaging systems). I'd like to purchase 300GB drives and load this thing up to the max, but before I make a purchase...does anybody know what the maximum RAID-5 container size is for this controller? Also, is there a maximum disk size?
If I bought 5 300GB drives, a RAID-5 container would be roughly 1.2TB, which would be perfect for our needs.
