I am trying to install a 180 Day trial of Windows Server 2012 x64 on a Dell Poweredge 2850 with a PERC 4e RAID controller. As with most Dell PE servers, you need the Dell Installation and Server management disc before installing the OS, or it will not recognise the RAID volume, or you need a disc/floppy with the driver. I have version 5.0 with my Dell Poweredge 2850, which only supports up to Server 2003 on the disc.
The latest version I believe is now called Dell OpenManage Server Admin 7.1, and works with Server 2012, however from what I have read, it doesn't work with Dell PowerEdge 2850, or 2950/2950 Gen 3. So I am now stuck on how to get Server 2012 to work on my 2850.
Am I going to have to fork out for new servers, or is there any other way to get it to work ?
