I recently upgraded my raid controller from the Perc i6 to H700 because of Hard Drive size limitations. Now when I try to install the OS (from a USB through the Bios) it boots fine and starts the install and then tell me the file is corrupted. I redid the USB with Rufus and got the same thing so I tried a different USB and still won't work. I then decided to try to install Server 2012R2 instead of 2016 and no difference. I wanted to update the firmware on the Raid controller but don't know how to do that without the OS. What can I look for?

Unable to detect Savvio 15.2k on Dell PowerEdge R610
Hi,
I have installed an additional Savvio 15.2k on my dell R610 server but the server could not detect the disk. It has a green light though. I am pretty new to managing servers, dell in particular, but I believe this should be a plug and play? Is there a process that I need to do before adding the drive? I read something about OMSA, but im not quite sure yet on that procedure. Any thoughts? I am running windows server 2008 by the way.

usb boot failed "current boot mode is set to uefi"
I'm trying to update the firmware on a Dell R710 server. Every time I try to boot to the USB stick I get USB boot failed current mode is set to UEFI. I found where RUFUS is supposed to help me fix this, but I can't seem to figure out the right settings to make it happy. What config should I use with this?

How to update a Dell/Wyse 3040 with ThinLinux?
We bought a Dell 3040 for RDP sessions but found that, out of the box, the RDP client is very slow on it, like it isn't drawing the screen properly.
I'd like to try updating the ThinLinux software on it but cannot find any instructions on how to do it without using Wyse Management Suite. I would like to just update it via an USB key.
Anyhow, I installed Wyse Management Suite and was able to get to register the 3040 so that it shows up in Devices. However, when I click on it I am not able to see any Device Details, just the title and buttons for Query/Restart/Unregister/More Actions. Query doesn't do anything and neither does clicking on any of the options under More Actions.
Can someone help me out here? Thanks.

Creating a simple 10Gbe server backbone
Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me with this. I'm looking to create a simple 10Gbe link between two Dell PowerEdge R540's. I've specified both with Broadcom 57416 10Gb cards, and a Netgear XS508M switch between them. My thinking is the two servers will be linked via their 10Gb NIC's to the Netgear via Cat6.
Using Windows Server 2016, i want to create a link between the two.
Server 1 is the production, Server 2 is the replica, and i want replication to occur throughout the day as high speed as possible. Both Servers will be equipped with SSD's to avoid storage bottlenecks.
In terms of the hardware setup, is there anything worth considering?

How to update Dell Server BIOS if running vMWare ESXi without vCenter?
Hello!
Can I update a Dell server BIOS by running the .exe BIOS update file from within a Windows Server VM running on ESXi 6.5?
The hypervisor here is just ESXi without a vCenter Server.
What would be a more efficient way of performing this BIOS update?

Dell ATG LCD with air bubbles
Hi,
Dell used Samsung LCD's with Dupont Display Enhancement. Great screen but badly sealed around the edges so the medium leaks out and air bubbles occur between the LCD & Glass panel.
Anyone know what medium was used? It like a sticky gel.
The fix is to reinject the medium (Via the sides of the screen) and then reseal the edges of the screen with windscreen sealant.

Latitude 3340 Wireless Connection Issue
I've had two of these laptops with the same issue and I really want to know what the issue is. The laptops are both perfectly fine with a wired network connection and most of the time are fine with Wireless. The issue is that they do not connect to the wireless before logging on. In our organization, we give these out to students and have disabled the shortcut to enable the wireless as this has caused issues with them accidentally disabling it. The issue can be resolved by simply using the shortcut but it has to be twice. It will get to the login screen, appear off, I will use the shortcut to re-enable it and it will work for about 4 seconds and then it turns off again. If I use the shortcut again it will stay on and allow me to sign in. After a user is logged in, there is no issue at all even when locked. To resolve this, I re-imaged...

I am dredging up an old post here, because I am BEYOND frustrated at this point.
Hand-me-down PE2850, had Win Server 2008 on it. Had to wipe prior configuration, due to customer sensitive data and no login access.
All I want is to load an OS on this thing. It has been DAYS of frustration, and I have read posts on so many different forums...
Unit only has a cd-rom drawer, but I can use a USB DVD to run install ISO files.
Once I get into Windows installer, it does not see any drives.
The RAID controller loads, and I have cleared and re-configured it so many ways now, I am fed up.
Help me, Bro-bee One Kenobi... you're my only hope.

3x Dell XPS (9630) all show indexing problem after several sleep/wake cycles
I recently purchased three Dell XPS (9630) laptops for a client and they all show the same problem:
After a random number of sleep/wake cycles, the Start menu will not show results. The user can type in the field, but nothing comes up. (Note: I have seen something similar, however in that case, you can't type in the search field.)
We've tried several on-the-spot resolutions like killing and restarting Explorer, restarting the Indexing service and other. Nothing works.
We have ProSupport and I have been talking to competent techs. However, they've not heard of this and are quickly leaning toward a full re-image.
The thing that burns me up is that we always buy Latitudes for this client. Out of the eight or so we've deployed, no Latitude has this problem and it occurs on all the XPS models. They requested XPS models because of the weight...

Dell Poweredge R720 Power supply offline
I was using the Lifecycle controller to upgrade my VMWare ESXi host. After the firmware was installed, it turned my server off, and I thought something was wrong, so I disconnected the power cable to see if it would come on again. Unfortunately, it was in the midst of applying a firmware upgrade to one of my 750W power supplies, and now iDRAC reports that it has a configuration error, and is currently offline with a blinking amber light.
I tried re-running LCC, to see if it would try to configure PS1 again, but it did not. Any suggestions on how I can get my power supply online again?

Precision 7720 Enabling discrete graphics in bios instead of switchable graphics
Hi there,
I have a user that is using a Dell Precision 7720. For now, we have left him on switchable graphics in the BIOS, which is fine for most of what he does. We enabled a setting in the bios that I can't remember the exact verbage of, but it had the effect of using discrete graphics full time and not being switchable. This setting proved to be very unstable and we had to disable it. Which is fine for now. I just wanted to get your thoughts on this issue and if it really matters. This user uses Solidworks on his laptop to make presentations at times, but he really hasn't been affected to terribly by the switching.
Do any of you find this to be an issue? We found the instability after the user was connected to a 4k tv for an extended amount of time giving a powerpoint presentation. After a while, the screen began to flicker and then...

Dell PERC controller foreign Configuration missing drive?

Potential disaster here!
Yesterday I discovered a hard drive had failed in a Disk Group running RAID 5. I replaced said drive. Checking Dell open manage I could see the new drive was accepted and was being rebuilt. Happy days right?
Come this morning people complained 'server is down'. Due to this server being in a remote office to me, I got someone to hook the server up to a monitor and take some screen shots.
We are greeted with a message " Foreign configuration(s) found on adaptor. Press any key to continue or ‘C’ load the configuration utility, or press ‘F’ to import foreign configuration(s) and continue."
There are offline or missing virtual drives with preserved cache. Please check the cables and ensure that all drives are present. Press any key to enter the configuration utility."

Dell E5540 Battery at 57% and not charging issue.
I have taken the batter out and popped it back in after cleaning it and the laptop. I have also removed the drivers from the device manager, once it restarted they came right back but no change. If I unplug the unit it shuts down completely. The screenshot below indicates there are 2 batteries that it can see. The first one is not present and the 2nd is at 57% and not charging. It is ALWAYS at 57% no matter what I do. I am not even aware of another batter in the system. This is the type of battery that protrudes from the back of the laptop. 
Right now I am updating all of Dell's hardware via the DCU but II am not too hopeful here. This is a new Windows 10 installation and the laptop is clean all around.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

MD 1200 issues, can't see array in openmanage or set options in raid bios
Hello I have an MD1200 and a Perc H200 connected to a R710.
The array DOES NOT light an LED when a drive is connected (used dell drives)
There are also NO RAID options in the bios, although the array shows as connected in the perc bios no drives show up in the bios or windows. (for fun I flashed the card to an LSI firmware and still nothing!)
Openmanage doesn't show the array either under the storage tab.
I've also bought a new backplane, just in case but same issue! I'm thinking of buying a perc h800 but not sure if it would make any difference?

OptiPlex 7060 Tower max hard drive supported
i am sure that a OptiPlex 7060 would recognize a 4TB HD but was wondering if anyone knows if it can recognize a larger drive?
