I'm looking for a little bit of advice here. I have a Dell Studio XPS 8300 desktop computer that when I press the power button, nothing happens. I first tried borrowing a PSU from a known good computer to see if that would help, but it didn't. After putting the original PSU back in the case, I decided to try something non-technical. I gave the power button a hard, quick hit with my finger and the computer started right up. This has worked a few times since. A normal press of the button does nothing whereas a hard hit starts it up.
So the question is- do the experts feel that it is simply a power button issue, or could it be an issue with the motherboard? I'm not much of a hardware guy, but I guess I'm wondering if the motherboard or PSU could possibly still be at fault and a faster button press associated with a quick hard hit of the...
